GM announced this morning that its redesigned 2010 Chevrolet Equinox will go on sale in June, with a starting price of just over $23,000.

GM said it expects the Equinox to have best-in-class fuel economy of 30 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city when equipped with the standard 182-hp 4-cylinder direct injected engine. The base fwd LS equipped with that engine will run $23,185, including destination charges.

In addition to the 4-cylinder engine, the Equinox buyers will have the option of selecting a 264-hp V-6 engine which achieves fuel economy of 25 mpg on the highway and 18 mpg in the city. The new crossover will come in LS, LT, and LTZ trims, with all-wheel drive available as an option.

In its press release, GM points out several key features for the 2010 Equinox, including six airbags, four-wheel disc brakes, stability and traction control, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel and power lumbar for the driver seat, all standard. Heated seats, a remote starting system, Bluetooth, a rear-seat entertainment system, and a rear view camera are among the available options.
