My, how time flies. Although we first saw Nissan’s track-prepped Nismo 370Z at April’s New York auto show, the sportiest Z is officially on sale as of today.
Nissan announced that the latest incantation of the Nismo-tuned Z will carry a base price of $39,850, which includes destination charges. That’s approximately $1600 more than a 370Z Touring equipped with the Sport Package, but buyers will receive one hardcore Z.
For starters, that 3.7-liter V-6 is tweaked to produce 350 hp (18 hp more than any other 370Z) and is mated to Nissan’s rev-matching six-speed manual transmission. The suspension is also heavily revised, increasing the 370Z’s damping factor by 40 and 140 percent in the front and rear, respectively. Bodywork, including the front fascia, spoiler, side sills, and rear spoiler, is unique to the Nismo 370Z, as are the 19-inch Rays aluminum wheels and red accents within the interior.
Although it lacks a few “luxuries” found on the Touring, the Nismo 370Z is essentially a fully loaded Z. Apart from picking the exterior color (there are but five to choose from), there are no factory options available. Customers will, however, be able to add accessories at their dealer, including Nismo-branded floormats ($115), a carpeted trunk mat ($95), and illuminated door sills ($200).
