At a time when most people are just trying to make ends meet, Maybach will launch a new model at the top of the high-end luxury sedan segment. Limited to only 100 units, the Maybach 57 Zeppelin and Maybach 62 Zeppelin will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.

Maybach claims "the name 'Zeppelin' has an incomparable ring to it in the realm of high-end luxury cars." However, most would instead think of "Led Zeppelin" the 70s rock band from England or even the famous Hindenburg Zeppelin that went down in a ball of flames and ended the use of the airships in 1937.

Nevertheless, Maybach celebrates the Zeppelin name by plastering it all over the vehicle. It can be found on the hood emblem, trunk, front center console, partition screen (available as an option on the 62 Zeppelin), standard silver champagne flutes, door sill panels, as well as on the key ring.

Maybach insists the Zeppelin is more than just a fancy trim package. The sedan's the 6.0 liter V-12 biturbo power plant comes from the 57S and 62S and delivers 640 hp, up 28 hp from the standard model. Outside, there is an available two-tone special paint finish, dark red taillights, 20-inch "Chrome Shadow" wheels, and streamlined exterior mirrors that produce less wind noise.

Inside, Zeppelin models feature "California" beige contrasted with "Stromboli" black leather appointments. A "piano lacquer" finish is applied to the trim elements and the diamond quilting pattern on the cushions and backrests is paired with black piping to give the seats a "character all of their own." Naturally, the occupants' feet rest on genuine lambskin carpeting.

The interior also features a unique perfume atomizer. For only €3950 (that's $5,096 in today's U.S. dollars) the cabin can be filled with a pleasing aroma, at the push of a button, as if to remind occupants that their farts don't stink.

Pricing for these two exclusive luxury models will be €406,000 ($525,323) for the Maybach 57 Zeppelin, and €473,200 ($612,273) the Maybach 62 Zeppelin. The new Maybach Zeppelin goes on sale in early March, with the first models expected to be delivered to customers in September 2009.
