With modern retro muscle cars on the brink of extinction with new CAFE standards looming over the automakers, Dodge creates a Challenger that brings the memories of yore even closer: the 2009 Challenger R/T Classic.
The 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic has been added to the Challenger’s lineup to fit between the standard R/T and the beastly SRT8. The R/T Classic retains the same powertrain as found in the standard R/T, but receives a boost in power to 376 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque when paired with the six-speed manual transmission. The extra power comes from a new dual-mode exhaust and functional hood scoops. The R/T Classic is also the only Challenger model outside of the SRT8 with fully defeatable traction control – which makes performing burnouts even easier.
The R/T Classic has a list of retro-touches to help recreate the classic Challenger look and draw upon the storied E-body’s history. Appearance changes include dual A-line body-side R/T stripes, vintage script fender badging, an egg-crate grill, a body-color rear spoiler, and 20-inch heritage wheels. Dodge also added a third heritage color for the Challenger R/T Classic: the original B5 Blue.
The Dodge Challenger R/T Classic is available to order now and will start at $34,005 (including destination).
