2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Other GMT 360 SUVs Recalled for Electrical Short

193,652 2006 and 2007 model year General Motors SUVs are being recalled for a short in the driver's side electrical panel module caused by a potential water leak in the driver's side door. The recall affects the Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, and related GMT 360 SUV models Buick Rainier, Saab 9-7x and Isuzu Ascender.

Owners of these vehicles are advised to park their vehicles outdoors until the module can be inspected or replaced by a dealership as part of the recall. An electrical short could potentially cause a fire.

The Problem:

A malfunction of the driver's side door switch panel could occur if fluid leaks into the module, causing intermittent or non-operation of the power door lock and power window switches. An electrical short could cause odor, smoke, or fire.

The Fix:

GM will contact vehicle owners, and the electrical modules will be inspected and a protective coating applied. Defective modules will be replaced. Chevrolet owners can call 866-694-6546, Buick owners can call 800-521-7300, GMC owners 866-996-9463, Isuzu 800-255-6727, and Saab 855-880-0808. Owners can also call NHTSA's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected:

193,652 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, EXT, GMC Envoy and XL, and Buick Rainier, Saab 9-7x and Isuzu Ascender SUVs. The recall is an expansion of the previous recall 12V-406.
