2015 Lexus RC F Horsepower and Pricing Announced

Lexus has been tight-lipped about the full specs of the 2015 Lexus RC F since the car’s debut at the 2014 Detroit auto show. Now, along with our first drive of this high-performance, BMW M4-fighting sports coupe, we have full information on the RC F’s 5.0-liter V-8 engine and pricing details.

The direct-injected, 32-valve V-8 engine makes a heady 467 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque, a bit more than the “450-hp-plus” that Lexus originally quoted when the car debuted. It’s also considerably more than the BMW M4’s 425 hp, although it falls short of the BMW turbo-six’s 406 lb-ft of torque. The Lexus also weighs considerably more than its German rival, at 3958 lbs to the BMW's 3585 lbs.

Lexus quotes a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds, with the 2015 Lexus RC F going all the way up to an electronically limited top speed of 170 mph. Power is routed through an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, and the big V-8 has a lofty redline of 7300 rpm. EPA fuel economy estimates for the RC F are 16/25/19 mpg city/highway/combined. The BMW M4 with a dual-clutch automatic transmission compares at 17/24/19 mpg.

All of this performance will cost $63,325 including destination, slightly undercutting the M4’s starting price of $65,150. Standard equipment includes 19-inch aluminum wheels, power driver and passenger’s seats, an LCD digital instrument panel, built-in laptimers and g-force meters, and the expected luxury equipment like automatic climate control, keyless entry, and smartphone integration through Lexus’ Enform infotainment system.

Although Lexus has not yet revealed full pricing for the RC F, we do know that options include full leather seats, a heated steering wheel, a moonroof, adaptive cruise control, navigation, a premium Mark Levinson audio system, and a park assist system. There is also a Performance Package that adds a carbon fiber roof and rear spoiler along with a special torque vectoring differential that’s said to improve handling. A Premium Package bundles luxury features like heated/ventilated seats, carbon fiber interior trim, a blind spot monitor, and a retractable, speed-sensitive rear spoiler.

Check out our first drive of the 2015 Lexus RC F and its standard RC 350 sibling, and stay tuned for more information about this new sports coupe before it goes on sale later this fall.
