Jaguar F-Type Project 7 Makes U.S. Debut, Starts at $165,925

We already knew that the Jaguar F-Type Project 7 will go into production next year, and now Jaguar is debuting the U.S.-spec version of this special-edition sports car at the Pebble Beach Concours in California. The Project 7 that will be heading to our shores is mostly the same as the one revealed earlier this summer in the U.K., but does boast 8 more hp for a total of 575 hp from its 5.0-liter supercharged V-8.

Jaguar has also announced the price for the U.S.-bound Project 7, which starts at $165,925 including destination. That’s significantly more than the priciest standard Jaguar F-Type, the F-Type R Coupe that costs $99,925. What you’re paying for with the Project 7 is exclusivity (only 250 copies will be made worldwide), style, and power, as the Jaguar F-Type Project 7 makes 25 more hp than the 550-hp R Coupe from the same 5.0-liter, supercharged V-8 engine. Given that the F-Type Project 7 is also 176 lbs lighter than an F-Type V8 S convertible, performance is predictably brisk, with 0-60 mph coming in just 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph.

This U.S. debut also marks the first time we’ve seen the Project 7 in white, which will be one of two standard colors offered for this limited-run sports car along with French Racing Blue—British Racing Green, Ultimate Black, and Caldera Red colors are also offered as optional upgrades.

The Jaguar F-Type Project 7 is a special edition made by the new Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations division. Its name commemorates the seven times Jaguar cars have won at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and it’s also meant to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the legendary Jaguar D-Type sports car.

Orders for the Jaguar F-Type Project 7 are open now with deliveries scheduled for spring 2015, so act quickly if you’d like to reserve one of the 250 units that will be sold worldwide.

Yes it is a little high. I would expect from a car like this to start and end at around 95 Thousand to around 110 Thousand Max USD, like the Audi R8 4.2 debuted at in 2008 because it is a special edition. There is actually nothing spectacular, less the name and the number being produced, that make this car even seem worth more than 60 Thousand USD. 176 pounds lighter, and around 25 more hp, is not a big improvement for 65 Thousand Dollars more, unless you're not that smart. Now would I drive the brakes off of one of these yes. Until the engine falls out and the tyres cry.

I'll take it

British version of a Nissan 350z. I would rather have the Nissan over this Jaguar. Same framework. Nissan has 40 years experience with this frame. I would drive Nissan over Jaguar.

too much to pay for no more than eight horsepower.

Extremely overpriced for a limited run of a normal car that has been lightened, and given extra power. Ok, so it has a front splitter, silly gray stickers slapped on, a spoiler put on the trunk, and some other doo-dads. I'm sorry, but tacking on 65 thousand bucks for THAT?! Jaguar, you're better than that.
