The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race series will welcome a new entrant to its ranks with the debut of the Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo. Following in the footsteps of the outgoing Gallardo Super Trofeo, the Huracán Super Trofeo is prepped for racing with advanced aerodynamic and cooling upgrades to compete in high-level racing.
As we saw from the Italian automaker’s earlier teaser for the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo, the race car bristles with high-performance upgrades for improved aerodynamics, traction, and downforce. Front and rear diffusers and adjustable front air intakes help reduce drag and improve cooling, while super sticky Pirelli tires and a 10-way adjustable rear wing ramp up traction and downforce. Prominent visual alterations include a no-nonsense metallic grey paint job, a red-trimmed aero package with an extended front spoiler, dual hood vents, and striking fender louvers over the front wheels.

The Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo also gets a considerable 28-hp boost from its production 5.2-liter 602-hp V-10 engine, totaling 620 hp. The standard all-wheel-drive Lamborghini Huracán is also converted to a rear-wheel drive setup for the Super Trofeo, which according to Lamborghini is “meant to accelerate the series racers’ transition into GT racing.” At only 2800 lbs thanks to its carbon fiber and aluminum construction, the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo surely needs expert hands to keep it from catastrophically accelerating into a wall.
Racing fans can watch the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo compete in European, Asian, and North American Blancpain racing series. The first North American event is on August 22-24 at the Virginia International Park.
