2015 Subaru Outback and Legacy Earn Top Safety Pick + Rating

The redesigned 2015 Subaru Outback and 2015 Subaru Legacy continue the high safety ratings of their predecessors by earning yet another Top Safety Pick + award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This means that Subaru’s entire lineup is recognized as at least a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS, while the Legacy, Outback, and Forester earn the higher TSP+ award.

This top rating only applies to 2015 Subaru Outback and Subaru Legacy models equipped with the optional front collision warning system included in Subaru’s EyeSight package. This system is available on all Legacy and Outback models except the base 2.5i as part of certain packages costing between $1195 and $3390, and also includes blind spot detection, cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning functions. This means that the least expensive TSP+ 2015 Subaru Legacy costs $25,485 and the TSP+-rated Outback costs $29,540, both including destination.

Apart from the front crash prevention system, the 2015 Subaru Outback and Legacy also performed well in the IIHS’ other battery of crash tests as both cars earned a “Good” rating in the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, head restraint, and even the small overlap front crash test. This improves on the 2014 Subaru Outback and Legacy, which only earned an “Acceptable” rating in the challenging small overlap test.

My dream car! Love the Outback more than the Legacy.

The seat cushion airbag FAILED to deploy in a severe frontal crash. Why?

@Art I have the 2013 Legacy .. . styling is a bit on the ugly duckling side, but a great car otherwise. The 2015 is even better.
