2015 Ram 2500, 3500 HD Revised for Higher Payload Rating

#Ram, #2500

The 2015 Ram 2500 HD and 2015 Ram 3500 HD pickup trucks are now even more capable, as the trucks' optional 6.7-liter turbodiesel High-Output inline-six engine makes more power. In addition, a revision to the Ram 3500 equipped with a 6.4-liter V-8 has increased its payload capacity by 70 pounds.

Ram Trucks worked with engine supplier Cummins to program "more aggressive" turbocharger boost and fuel injection patterns, pumping up the High Output diesel's torque output by 15 lb-ft , to a total of 865 lb-ft at 1700 rpm. Horsepower remains unchanged at 385 hp at 2800 rpm; a six-speed automatic transmission is standard.

Other chassis revisions mean that versions of the 2015 Ram 3500 HD with the standard 410-hp, 6.4-liter V-8 engine now have a maximum payload rating of 7390 pounds, an increase of 70 pounds compared to the peak figure for 2014 Ram heavy duty trucks. Maximum towing, which is achieved by the 2015 Ram 3500 HD with the aforementioned 6.7-liter High Output turbodiesel, is unchanged at 30,000 pounds.

Ram Trucks notes that its heavy duty towing and payload numbers conform to the new, more stringent SAE J2807 test criteria. While Ford and General Motors have released ratings for light-duty pickup trucks according to the new standard, Ram Trucks is the only company to apply SAE J2807 to its heavy duty models at this time.

RAM 2500 2014, Laramie, 4X4, Diesel, Long Box, has the worst payload for the newest truck. My owner manual says I can only carry up to about 1800~ lbs. It is a pick up truck and that's all I can carry. Really? It is true that I was being cheated by the salesman from Carl Gregory, but I should have done more homework. There were other features added and the dealer told me I have 3000~ lbs. Now I couldn't even buy a truck camper that I wanted to fit on my truck. Also, be aware of RAM powertrain driveshaft. Mine is extremely rusty because it is not coated. I should have checked before buying it. Call the dealer and Chrysler but both decided not to help me out. They told me I have to pay to get the rust off two weeks after I purchased it. $60,000 truck, this is what I am stuck with. I have to wait until about 2016 and I will get another pick up and will loose over $10,000 to $15,000 because of the whole fiasco.
