2015 Audi A3 TDI, A3 Cabrio, and S3 Priced

#Audi, #A3

Three new variants of the 2015 Audi A3 will join the existing A3 sedan by the end of this summer, and Audi has now released pricing for the performance-oriented S3 sedan, the droptop A3 Cabriolet, and the efficient A3 TDI sedan.

The 2015 Audi A3 TDI sedan is closest to the existing A3 sedan in price, as its $33,495 starting price with destination slots in neatly between the $30,795 1.8T and $33,795 2.0T gasoline models. The TDI model is powered by Volkswagen’s new EA288 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder that offers 150 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs only with front-wheel drive and should offer up even higher fuel economy than the old A3 TDI’s 30/42 mpg city/highway ratings, thanks to the new engine’s more efficient operation. An Audi A3 TDI Sportback will also be joining the model range next year, although we don’t yet have pricing for that hatchback model.

Next up the price ladder is the 2015 Audi A3 Cabriolet, which starts at $36,495 with destination. Sun-loving A3 buyers can choose between the base, 170-hp 1.8-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with front-wheel drive, or the upgraded 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that makes 220 hp and pairs with Quattro all-wheel drive for $39,495. The A3 cabrio comes with a power-operated soft top that can be raised or lowered at speeds up to 31 mph, and features the same interior as its sedan sibling, with Audi’s MMI infotainment system as standard as it is on all A3 models.

Finally, the 2015 Audi S3 is the hotted-up version of Audi’s smallest model -- and it's the first time the model is being offered in the U.S.. This 292-hp sport sedan will start at $41,995 with destination, and gets all that power from a high-output version of the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that’s found in lesser A3 models. This engine routes power through Quattro all-wheel drive and an S tronic dual-clutch gearbox. The S3 also features an upgraded sport suspension, some S-specific trim on the inside, and slightly more aggressive exterior styling, with bigger wheels and a unique aluminum-look front grille.

These three versions of the 2015 Audi A3 will go on sale later this summer, and will be joined by the Audi A3 Sportback in both diesel TDI and plug-in hybrid e-tron forms starting next year.

I'll take a black S3, tint, downpipe, intake and APR tune... Thanks
Craig Stishenko
Michael and Stefan the well respected BMW 1M does not have much more power than that. But remember that it also has a turbocharged engine - and if more power is needed APR will have a tune available. Expect 340 flywheel hp with a simple tune.

I haven't peeked under it yet... I hope it's not a vw cheep platform.. No fills? Cause the previous gen, was a rough ride. ;-( on my body after two hours of driving.. It's beautiful to look at.

I'd go for a TDI if it were available with Quattro and a clutch pedal.
Eric Mongeur
I think they should make the TDI with Quattro. Any why no manual transmission? The A4 has the same engine, and it has a manual transmission...
Eric Mongeur
Somehow, I was hoping that the S3 was gonna be a little hotter... Seems to me it wouldn't be too hard for someone to make their own S3 out of a A3 2.0T Quattro, without the bling.

No TDI on the configurator?
Gregory Easton
Very nice...

I don't like soft tops and wish they would make them hard light weight carbon tops but of the models here : The cabrio 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that makes 220 hp and pairs with Quattro all-wheel drive for $39,495.

Stefan Takacs, it has 292 hp, are you really kicking up a fuss over 8 hp? The s4 and s5 have 333hp, thats really not far off and those cars are bigger.

Like the convertible. Looks nice.

I'd choose 2008 RS4, 6-speed manual.
Chris Infante
Agree sold if they offer the s3 Avant
Daniel Colanton
NO TOO SMALL!! Id instead pick pick the mercedes E550 !!
Chuck Harris
None without a manual
Stefan Takacs
Less then 300hp for an S? Yuck no thanks. Avant option would be nice though. I guess I'll have to wait for the RS3.
