Recalls: Ford, Chevrolet, Buick, Fiat, Chrysler and Dodge Models

2013-2014 Ford Escape, Ford C-Max

The Problem: A software problem with the restraint control module can delay the deployment of the side curtain airbags in the event of a rollover, possibly increasing the risk of injury.

The Fix: Dealers will reprogram the restraint control module at no cost to owners.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 591,281 2013-2014 Ford Escape and Ford C-Max models produced between either October 5, 2011 and February 14, 2014 (Escape) or January 19, 2012 and February 24, 2014 (C-Max).

2013-2014 Ford Escape

The Problem: The exterior door handle can bind, possibly preventing the door from latching properly. This means the door could open while driving.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect all four exterior door handles and reposition if necessary.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 579,275 2013-2014 Ford Escape models produced between October 5, 2011 and April 10, 2014. All Escape models subject to the above restraint control recall are also included in this door handle recall.

2014 Chevrolet Malibu, 2014 Buick LaCrosse

The Problem: Rear brake rotors may have been mistakenly installed into the front brake assembly during the manufacturing process. This could cause reduced braking performance and shorter front brake pad life.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect possibly affected vehicles and replace the front rotors and front brake pads if necessary, free of charge to owners.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 8,208 2014 Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse models produced between January 29 and March 31, 2014. Only 1,694 of these vehicles have been sold, with the rest in dealer stock.

2013-2014 Fiat 500e

The Problem: A defect in the power inverted module (PIM) may cause coolant to seep over electrical components. This may cause a short-circuit which would lead to a loss of power while driving.

The Fix: In affected vehicles, Chrysler will replace the entire PIM at no cost to customers.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 4,141 2013-2014 Fiat 500e electric vehicles.

2010-2014 Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country

The Problem: The switches for the third-row power window vents may short circuit if directly exposed to moisture, possibly causing the switches to overheat.

The Fix: In affected vehicles, dealers will replace the window switches. Until owners are notified to schedule service, they may visit the dealer after May 14 to have the window switches disconnected to eliminate any risks.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 644,850 2010-2014 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country models in the U.S.
