Recall Central: 2014 Honda Odyssey, 2014 Mazda 6

2014 Honda Odyssey

The Problem: The installation process for the passenger’s side curtain air bag may have damaged the airbag shorting terminal, which is an electrical connector that prevents the airbag from deploying before it’s installed in the vehicle. Because of this, the side curtain airbag may fail to deploy in the event of a crash.

The Fix: Starting this month, Honda will notify owners to bring their vehicles in for service, where dealers will replace the damaged shorting terminal with a new coupler free of charge.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 24,889 2014 model year Honda Odyssey minivans manufactured between October 2, 2013 and December 16, 2013.

2014 Mazda 6

The Problem: It is possible to fill the fuel tank beyond capacity, which could cause gasoline to flow into the charcoal canister that’s a part of the evaporative emissions system. This could cause a leak from the canister’s external vent which increases the risk of a fire.

The Fix: Mazda dealers will add an adapter to the shut-off valve in affected cars, in addition to inspecting the charcoal canister to see if any gasoline has leaked inside. If so, dealers will also replace the canister.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 19,000 2014 model year Mazda 6 sedans manufactured between October 25, 2013 and May 9, 2013.
