Feature Flick: 2014 Jaguar F-Type vs Jaguar E-Type

The Jaguar E-Type is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Its modern-day successor, the 2014 Jaguar F-Type, is easy on the eyes as well, and in the latest episode of World’s Greatest Car Show, host Justin Bell drives both of these British roadsters back to back.

The Jaguar E-Type first debuted in 1961, and the example in this video is a Series II E-Type powered by a 246-hp, 4.2-liter straight-six engine. The Series II cars, made from 1968-1971, feature some different styling details including open headlights and a wraparound rear bumper. Although the E-Type was an undeniably fast car for its time, the car’s gorgeous curves and attention to detail are what make the E-Type such an iconic model in Jaguar’s history.

Only time will tell if the E-Type’s successor, the 2014 Jaguar F-Type will achieve the same status down the line. The new F-Type is beautiful too, with a muscular profile and classic long hood-short deck sports car proportions. It’s also got an ace up its sleeve in the form of a supercharged, 5.0-liter V-8 engine that produces 495 hp as well as an over-the-top soundtrack that Bell says adds a visceral element to the driving experience. In fact, we liked it so much we named the F-Type one of our 2014 All-Stars.
