The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, our reigning Automobile of the Year, has been a runaway success ever since its debut last fall. Sales have been so strong that Chevrolet has raised the cost of the Corvette and Corvette Convertible by $2000 across the board in response to high demand.

This means that the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray now has a base price of $53,995, with the Convertible now starting at $58,995, both including destination. The increase of $2000 applies to all three trim levels, which include 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT. The price of the popular Z51 package has also gone up by $1200 to correspond with higher-than-expected demand for that model. A Chevrolet spokesman said that more than half of all C7 Corvettes sold so far were equipped with the Z51 package, which adds a performance suspension and brakes, a limited-slip differential, and performance summer tires.
Chevrolet does not have specific information about waiting lists because those are handled by individual dealers, but a Chevrolet spokesperson said that many customers are still waiting for their cars to be delivered after ordering months ago. 2014 Chevrolet Corvette inventory has only been sitting on lots for seven days on average before being sold, compared with an industry average of 60 days. Chevrolet spokesperson Monte Doran told us, “The cars are selling as soon as they come off the trucks.”
This pricing change officially went into effect on March 1. Cars that were delivered to dealers before then will not be re-invoiced, even if they are still on the lot. Additionally, customers who placed an order for a Corvette before March 1 will not be affected by the price increase even if they do not taken delivery until later.
Full updated pricing information for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette is available on Chevrolet’s consumer website, and the Corvette’s configurator has been updated to reflect this change.
