This week’s episode of Head 2 Head features a match made in horsepower heaven. Two German naturally aspirated, V-8 powered high-performance coupes—the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 and the 2014 Audi RS5—square off to your heart’s delight.

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 is one of the few remaining AMG models to forgo forced induction, yet it still rancorously bellows with (fittingly) 507 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. Its 6.2-liter V-8 is the same as that of the regular C63 AMG, except that it contains forged pistons, new connecting rods, and a lighter crankshaft.

Comparatively, the 2014 Audi RS5 packs a 4.2-liter V-8 under its hood, making 450 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. The Audi RS5 lacks the insane raw power of AMG’s 507, but makes do thanks to all-wheel-drive, a fantastic dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and advanced technology like a torque-vectoring rear differential.

As expected, the AMG 507 is the better straight-line rocket, while the Audi RS5 is the more lithe and agile of the two on the figure eight. Out on rainy public roads the Audi RS5 grips like a vice, and host Jonny Lieberman lauds the Audi’s road holding and handling capabilities on the slick pavement. Of the AMG 507’s glorious 6.2-liter V-8, he perhaps too proudly states, “I’ve dated women [who] have given me less satisfaction than this engine has.”
