It may seem like a strange place to test a luxury sedan, but this video proves that the 2015 Hyundai Genesis was put through its paces at the famous Nürburgring in Germany. The fact that the car was driven on the Nordschleife actually isn't much of a surprise. Hyundai opened a technical center at the 'Ring in summer 2013, and our spy photographers saw prototypes of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis lapping the track almost a year ago.
The video shows a 2015 Hyundai Genesis lapping the Nürburgring while a voiceover notes that the car's ride and handling really were verified on the track. The gave engineers a chance to evaluate the new HTRAC all-wheel-drive system, which joins the Genesis for the first time in 2015; the Continuous Damping Control adaptive suspension; and the new suspension that was tuned in partnership with Lotus. What's left out is that the Genesis will rush down the Nürburgring's straights with the help either of a 311-hp, 3.8-liter V-6 engine or a 420-hp, 5.0-liter V-8, both of which mate to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2015 Hyundai Genesis made its public debut earlier this year at the 2014 Detroit auto show. It goes on sale this spring for a base price that is expected to be close to the outgoing car's $36,120 sticker. To see the car in action on a race track, check out the full video below.
