The funky Nissan Juke gains its most performance-oriented variant yet in the 2014 Nissan Juke Nismo RS, which slots above the Nissan Juke Nismo thanks to its upgraded engine and chassis that were tuned by Nissan’s performance division. Nissan has announced pricing for this range-topping Juke model, and it starts at $26,930 with destination for the front-wheel-drive, manual transmission Juke Nismo RS.

That’s $3130 higher than the price of an equivalent Juke Nismo, and for that money the RS adds a number of performance enhancements. First off, the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 215 hp and 210 lb-ft of torque, 18 hp and 26 lb-ft more than the Juke Nismo (and a 27-hp bump over the base Juke). On front-wheel-drive models, which come with a one-choice-only six-speed manual transmission, the Juke Nismo RS also features a limited-slip differential.

For an extra $2000, the 2014 Nissan Juke Nismo RS can also be outfitted with an all-wheel-drive system that mates exclusively with a CVT. Although this model produces slightly less power than the manual-transmission Juke Nismo RS (211 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque), the all-wheel-drive model features an updated torque vectoring function as well as paddle shifters for the transmission to up the sport quotient.

Nissan also says that all versions of the Juke Nismo RS have greater structural rigidity and larger brakes, and the electric power steering has reportedly been tuned for a sportier feel. Continental ContiSportContact5 performance tires mounted on 18-inch wheels come as standard on all models.

The Nissan Juke Nismo RS also looks slightly more aggressive than the Juke Nismo with its gloss-black B-pillars, red mirrors, dark anthracite wheels, and upgraded body kit with red accent lines. On the inside, the changes are more significant and include standard Recaro front seats, Alcantara and leather trim for the seats and steering wheel, carbon-fiber finishes, and a red tachometer. There are no option packages available for the Nissan Juke Nismo RS, as this model comes standard with features like Bluetooth, automatic climate control, and pushbutton start.

On sale now nationwide, the 2014 Nissan Juke Nismo RS is an amped-up version of Nissan’s quirky crossover with a price that puts it right in the mix with other hot hatch competitors.
