The famous Cadillac crest has gone through countless changes over the brand's nearly 112-year history, and the latest version was introduced last year on the Cadillac Elmiraj concept. To show the evolution of the Cadillac crest -- and to show off the 2015 Cadillac ATS coupe that bears the new crest -- Cadillac worked with DJ A-Trak to create this glitzy tribute to the crest.
In the video, the center of DJ A-Trak's records shows each of Cadillac's various crests through the past, while the 2015 Cadillac ATS coupe is gradually revealed on an adjacent turntable. The records begin with the crest from 1906, move on to the wing-shaped design that was introduced in 1933, followed by 1942's shield-like Cadillac crest, the 1957 version that feature a prominent chrome "V" shape, 1964's plainer crest design, the version redesigned in 1999 that displayed a chrome wreath around the Cadillac crest, and finally the brand-new design that launched on the 2015 Cadillac ATS coupe. Although there have been a total of 38 variations of the Cadillac crest, the video highlights only these seven major versions.
"The Crest remains a consistent symbol of Cadillac and our core values," Cadillac executive design director Andrew Smith said in a statement. "This new Crest matches the lower, longer, leaner mantra of our current car designs."
After its appearance on the ATS coupe, the newest version of the crest will roll out to all other Cadillac models throughout this year.
