Feature Flick: 2014 Audi RS7 Runs the Standing Mile

#Audi, #RS7

The standing mile is one of the toughest tests for a performance car, as it combines full-throttle acceleration and sustained high speeds into a high-octane trial of a car’s power and high-speed stability. In this standing mile video, the powerful 2014 Audi RS7 hits the runway at Oscoda-Wurtsmith airport in Northern Michigan to see how it performs.

With its twin-turbocharged, 560-horsepower V-8 engine, the mean-looking 2014 Audi RS7 was a prime contender for our first standing mile test. In our first drive of this high-po Audi, we called this 4.0-liter powerplant “the star of the RS7,” so it was only natural to find out how the RS7 puts its power down at the tarmac. At the start, the RS7’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system helps it get off the line quickly, with barely even a chirp from the tires as the V-8 roars to life with a mean-sounding metallic snarl. The eight-speed automatic transmission delivers quick shifts and soon enough the Audi RS7 is blasting down the runway.

In the end, the 2014 Audi RS7 finished the standing mile in 30.5 seconds at a top speed of 170.1 mph, incredibly quick for a 4400-pound hatchback. Stay tuned to our YouTube channel for more Automobile Magazine standing mile videos in the future to see how the 2014 Audi RS7 stacks up against other performance machines.
