Chrysler’s big news at the 2014 Detroit auto show was the introduction of the new 2015 Chrysler 200 midsize sedan. We already reported on the 200’s surprisingly low starting price of $22,695, but now Chrysler has launched an online configurator for the new sedan which details the prices and various trim levels, including the luxury 200S and 200C models that were on display at the Detroit show floor.
The base model of the 2015 Chrysler 200 is called the LX, and comes standard with a fair amount of equipment despite its low $22,695 starting price, with destination. It includes a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission, keyless entry and push-button start, cruise control, and a 3.0-inch UConnect touch screen with a USB port audio input. The next step up is the $24,250 200 Limited, which adds alloy wheels, chrome trim up front, a larger five-inch UConnect screen, Bluetooth, and automatic headlights with LED light pipe accents.
The next step up is the 200S model, which starts at $25,490 with the four-cylinder engine and front-wheel-drive. Upgrading to the 3.6-liter, 295-hp V-6 engine costs $1950, and the V-6 comes standard on the $29,690 all-wheel-drive 200S. The 200S is pitched as the “sporty” trim level, with gloss black exterior accents, 18-inch wheels, dual exhaust tips, partial-leather power sport seats, a sport suspension, and a sport mode for the nine-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel-drive 200S also adds a torque vectoring system and slightly different suspension tuning.
The range-topping Chrysler 200C goes for a classier, more luxurious look compared with the 200S. It gets chrome trim all around, along with leather seats, a backup camera, a seven-inch information display in the gauge cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, and special interior LED illumination. The 200C starts at $26,990 with front-wheel-drive and the four-cylinder engine with the V-6 again costing $1950, or $31,190 with all-wheel-drive and the V-6 as standard..
In terms of options, the Chrysler 200 offers packages like the Comfort Group ($645) on the Limited which adds automatic climate control, heated seats; or the $1494 navigation and sound package on the 200S that adds an 8.4-inch UConnect screen. Chrysler is also offering various active safety features as options on the 2015 Chrysler 200, like blind spot monitoring and cross path detection which cost $595 on the 200S, or a $1295 SafetyTec package on the 200C that also has adaptive cruise control, braking assist, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and a full parking assist system.
All in, a fully-loaded 2015 Chrysler 200C AWD costs $38,455 with destination, about even with a similarly-equipped Ford Fusion Titanium AWD. The 2015 Chrysler 200 will go on sale in the second quarter of 2014.
