Chevrolet’s U.S. vice president of marketing Chris Perry will be taking the company’s “Find New Roads” tagline literally, as Automotive News reports that Perry will resign from his position at General Motors. This follows in the footsteps of last week’s news from GM, when Mary Barra was named CEO along with numerous other corporate leadership changes throughout the ranks of GM’s executives.
Perry arrived at GM in 2010 and went through numerous marketing positions before being named vice president of U.S. marketing, when he reported to Chevrolet’s global chief marketing officer Tim Mahoney. Perry had previously been the top marketing officer for Hyundai. Perry was hired by and worked with former GM ad chief Joel Ewanick, who was fired in July 2012.
While at Chevrolet, Perry was involved in the “Chevy Runs Deep” ad campaign in 2010, as well as the more recent “Find New Roads” tagline. At this point we don’t know what’s next for Perry, and the company has reportedly not yet chosen a replacement.
Since Chevrolet’s Global Sales and Marketing vice president Alan Batey will be replacing Mark Reuss as executive vice president and president for GM’s North American operations, expect to see more changes within Chevrolet’s marketing department within the next few months.
