Feature Flick: 2014 Aston Martin Rapide S In Detail

Although we love to drive, sometimes a car is so beautiful we can be equally content just looking at it. That's the case with this 2014 Aston Martin Rapide S, a car we carefully examined in close-up in this Car Porn video.

While this video doesn't show the 2014 Aston Martin Rapide S under its own power, it does allow us to appreciate the details that were changed and revised for the 2014 model year. The luxury sedan scored a larger front grille, new wheel designs, and a redesigned rear spoiler to better handle high-speed driving. Beneath the sheetmetal, a 5.9-liter V-12 engine produces 550 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. Mounted at the rear to keep the car's weight balanced in check, the six-speed transaxle helps the Rapide S hurtle to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and allows it to pull all the way to 190 mph.

When we first drove the 2014 Aston Martin Rapide S, we reported that the V-12 engine's sound, "is deep and characterful… Fire up the V-12 and the aural impact equals the car's visual impact. Every time we entered a tunnel, we couldn't resist lowering the windows and slapping off a few downshifts just to hear that great sound echoing off the walls."

Ultimately, though, we found that the 2014 Aston Martin Rapide S is less about driving and more about the overall experience. "As delectable as the Rapide S is to drive, it may be more remarkable as an art object," wrote senior editor Joe Lorio. "This is a car that makes you want to dress better." A truly stunning car.  Owning one really makes a statement in a way that few other cars can offer.  Makes one wonder why people buy expensive cars that are ugly.  Are they blind or just don't have any real taste.  In thinking of BMW 7 series and Audi A8s, embarrassing to be seen in.
