One Tasty Alfa Bit the Alfa Romeo TZ3 by Zagato
An effort to return the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este to the original function of such events - presenting new designs in an exceptionally elegant setting - got a boost this year when Andrea Zagato presented the Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa prototype. With a dry-sump V-8 much like that in Alfa's 8C Competizione supercar and a six-speed sequential gearbox in a carbon-fiber tub, it is intended for the GT2 category, should a project to build a small series come to fruition. Given Zagato's ninety-year connection with Alfa Romeo in racing, it could happen.
The good-looking TZ3 was commissioned by German amateur racer Martin Kapp, and the public at the Villa Erba presentation loved it. It won the people's choice award over the four other concept cars on hand.
