2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Pricing and Performance Numbers Announced

Although we celebrated the return of the king at the 2008 Detroit auto show, GM's waited until now to reveal some important figures for the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.

For the real gearheads, there's the performance data. The 638-hp ZR1, powered by the supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V-8, cranks through the quarter mile in 11.3 seconds at 131 mph. The ZR1 can hit 60 mph from a standstill in 3.4 seconds, 100 mph in 7.0 seconds, and a top-end of 205 mph. The ZR1's 0-to-60-mph time is 0.3 seconds quicker than the Z06, and the car is nearly a full second faster to 100 mph.

All that power does come at a significant price, however. The ZR1 starts at $103,300, including an $825 destination charge. Buyers will also have to fork over an extra $1700 for gas guzzler taxes, seeing as the ZR1 does return 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. That means you'll need at least $105,000 to get behind the wheel.

That figure is for a base 1ZR trim level, which doesn't include some of the accoutrements of the upscale 3ZR. For an extra $10,000 the 3ZR adds side airbags, a DVD-based navigation system, Bluetooth phone connectivity, a luggage shade, and a Homelink garage door remote. 3ZRs also receive the interior dress-up package (which wraps the upper dash, door panels, and center console lid in leather) and sport seats (both power and heated) with adjustable lumbar and side bolsters.

The only other available option for the ZR1 comes in the form of chrome-finish 19-inch aluminum wheels, which sticker for an extra $2000.
