GT Academy: From PS3 to 24 Hours of Dubai

By Evan McCausland

European gamers who think they can take their Gran Turismo 5 skills and apply them on a physical track now have a chance to do just that. Nissan and Sony Computer Entertainment are partnering to offer GT5 users a chance to partake in "GT Academy," a virtual driving school/competition, ultimately giving the winner physical seat time.

After an eight-month long competition, the winner will be placed into a four-month race training program, allowing them to attain various FIA and racing licenses. That's not the real kicker, though - following the crash course, the winner will then drive as part of Nissan's team in the 2009 24 Hours of Dubai.

That's a wicked-cool prize, but we wish the competition were open to us Yanks. If you've got a Playstation 3, a copy of GT5 and a residence within the European Economic Community, log-in with your PS3 to start your engines.
