Although it's true that each Callaway C16 Speedster starts its life as a Corvette, those Chevy genes or so deeply hidden that you would need a DNA sample to find them. That's not meant to suggest that the Corvette is a bad car (it isn't), just that the Callaway is so much more.
Each Speedster is built to individual customer specifications at one of the Callaway facilities, which are located in California, Connecticut, and Germany. The lucky customers get to choose custom colors for the exterior and interior of the car, which features hand stitched leather and signature Callaway badging.
The rest of the car is every bit as special: its supercharged 6.2 liter hand-built engine produces 700 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque. All of that power gets the Speedster to sixty mph in 3.2 seconds and on to a maximum speed of over 210 mph. Another feature worth noting is the advanced suspension, which is adjustable to ten different positions, allowing the driver to customize the car for specific road conditions.
The very first C16 Speedster will be delivered to its owner at the Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach this summer. Anyone else who wants to purchase one of the $305,000 supercars will have to wait until they go on sale this fall.
