IMAGINE IF IT HAD GONE TO PBS NASCAR recently inked an eight-year television deal to broadcast America's premiere oval-track racing series/ nonstop advertising pitchfest on ABC, ESPN, Fox, Speed, and TNT. The deal will net NASCAR $4.48 billion--but that wasn't enough for Wall Street, which promptly sent share prices of NASCAR's International Speedway Corporation to a 2005 low.

The new VroomBox VB-100 Intimidator ($160) is wired into your car's ignition and audio systems and pumps out digital sounds of some other--and presumably cooler, faster, or more expensive--car. The VroomBox comes with fifteen sound tracks, including a parade of '60s iron and a Lamborghini V-12.

RALLY OVER FOR MITSUBISHI Financially troubled Mitsubishi Motors has suspended its participation in the World Rally Championship, effective immediately. The company says it hopes to return to WRC in 2008, when its "Revitalization Plan" has been completed. Mitsubishi follows Peugeot and Citron, which both have announced they're sitting out the 2006 season.
