DaimlerChrysler and VW already have announced that Volkswagen of America will sell a version of Chrysler's minivan, and the two are looking at a lot more product sharing in the future. The first proposal has Chrysler adapting the next generation of VW's subcompact Polo to fill in for the recently departed Neon. VW, which could use a smaller and less expensive car than the Golf in the U.S. market, would bring the Polo here as well. A more far-reaching idea has all Golf-sized VWs and Audis sharing their architecture with the next-generation Mercedes-Benz A-class (which will drop its sandwich-floor layout), the B-class, and the Chrysler PT Cruiser. The components also would have enough flexibility to support the VW Passat/Eos and the Chrysler Sebring/Dodge Stratus.
