In the dreams of Chevy marketers, Malibus like this will be commonplace. In reality, there was one, and it was built by GM. The Malibu Xtreme features a supercharged, 240-hp Ecotec four; a Corsa exhaust, dinner-plate-sized brake rotors, 19-inch wheels, and—what's this?—a four-speed automatic.
Cosmetically, we find custom front and rear fascias, sill extensions, custom hood and rear spoiler, special headlamps and taillamps, leather sport seats, and Kevlar-look interior trim. Oh, there's also a 1200-watt stereo system. Will this Xtreme join the Malibu lineup, like the Blazer Xtreme? Xtremely unlikely, we'd say.
