Volvo attempts to get the attention of younger, utility-conscious
car shoppers with this exceptionally handsome new sport wagon.
Unveiled at the Bologna Motor Show on December 4, Volvo's replacement for its V40 goes on sale in North America during the summer of 2004 as a 2005 model. Like the S40 sedan, unveiled at this year's Frankfurt show, the V50 will offer a choice of two in-line five-cylinder engines: a normally aspirated 2.4-liter unit producing 168-horsepower and a 2.5-liter 218-horsepower light-pressure turbo, each available with an electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system.
