BMW's art cars are born again, this time in 1:18 miniature scale. For those unfamiliar with this tradition, BMW's combination of famous artists and famous racing cars started in 1975 when Alexander Calder painted Herve Poulain's 3.0 CSL for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Every subsequent art car was done by a different artist, including big names like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. In all there have been 15, the most recent being a 1999 V-12 Le Mans roadster by Jenny Holzer. Just four cars — Calder, Holzer, Warhol, and Chia — have been released so far, athough the rest will eventually be available.

Each car goes for $125 each — not too cheap for a model but a whole lot less expensive than the real thing. To get your hands on a piece of rolling sculpture, head to a nearby BMW dealer, call 888-269-6654, or go to www.bmw-online.com.
