Fifty Years of WD-40

Everybody probably knows what WD-40 is, but ask anyone what WD-40 is used for and you'll get a million different answers. It lubricates, prevents rust, keeps mud off dirt bikes, removes hard water stains, loosens bolts, and does just about anything else you can think of. In fact the WD-40 website lists over 2,000 uses, and there is even a book about WD-40 utility.

It's hard to believe that after 50 years, WD-40 is still going strong with the exact same recipe used to protect Atlas missile parts from corrosion. The original product, named for the 40th attempt on a Water Displacement formula, was quickly bootlegged by workers amazed by the product from using it in factories.

Today, one million cans a week are produced in the United States. For the special birthday, WD-40 has released a commemorative can. If you don't already have a familiar blue and yellow can of your own (shame on you), now is the perfect time to find out what everyone else already knows.
