2011 Chevrolet Avalanche
2011 Chevrolet Avalanche
The newest model of Chevrolet Avalanche claims the title for "#1 Sports Utility Trucks" out of 12 competing models. This is a very bold statement and the Avalanche can definitely stand up to its name as the best in class. The history of building very rugged heavy duty trucks runs very deep with Chevy and they are still bringing a huge selection of durable utility vehicles to the public after all these years.

The Avalanche has been available for 5 years now and its unique design and high level of flexibility has made it a customer favorite when it comes to the full line of trucks from Chevrolet. One feature that makes this utility vehicle stand out from standard trucks is the mid-gate that allows its owner to fold down the wall between the passenger area and the bed of the truck. This instantly opens up a huge area to store extra long or large objects that would not otherwise fit. The bed of this pickup also offers some lockable storage compartments that are built in. This is another way that Chevrolet has built upon the concept of a standard truck.

Want more giddy-up in your pickup? Chevrolet tuner Callaway now has the answer for you -- by adding a supercharger to the Silverado pickup, they have boosted output for both the 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V-8 engines as high as 540 hp.

General Motors is bringing out the big guns to keep its sales momentum going. That is, it’s bringing out the price guns, introducing zero-percent financing across many of its model lines.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION
Summary
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado HD, Silverado LD, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra LD, Sierra HD, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the ignition lock actuator may bind, making turning the key difficult or causing the ignition to get stuck in the "Start" position.
Consequences
If stuck in the "Start" position, the ignition may suddenly snap back into the "Accessory" position, causing a loss of engine, steering, and braking power, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. If the vehicle is in a crash, the air bags may not deploy, increasing the risk of occupant injury.
Remedy
GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the ignition lock housing, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on February 12, 2015. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14696 for the original equipment, and 14912 for the service replacement parts.
