For its size, the Mazda CX-7 is a sporty, athletic SUV. It won’t be mistaken for a sports car, but it maintains good control over body roll even when the going gets rough. It retains as much of a sports car like feel that a SUV can attain and is considered to be one of the more visually appealing models available in this segment.

There are several trim options available on the CX-7. The Base I SV and I sport models are equipped with a 2.5 liter four cylinder making 161 HP and 161 Ft. – Lbs. of torque. This is mated to a 5 speed automatic transmission. The higher end versions the S touring and S Grand Touring model offer a turbo charged, 2.3 liter four cylinder making 244 HP and 258 FT. – LBS. of torque. This more powerful engine is available in both front wheel drive and all wheel drive as well as.

Options abound on this model. Leather seating, xenon headlights, sunroof, heated mirrors and 18 or 19 inch wheels are just a sample of the options available.

For 2010 the Mazda CX-7 gets a refreshed exterior and interior, as well as a responsive 2.3-liter urbocharged inline-four cylinder. The use of thicker materials, reinforcements, and weld bonds provides a five percent increase in the CX-7’s torsional rigidity. Interior comfort and quietness is enhanced via higher density insulation throughout the engine compartment and cabin.

A bold five point Mazda-family grille now joins the exterior design, as does a reworked rear end. CX-7 Grand Touring models get new front foglight bezels, while restyled 17-18- and 19-inch alloys spice up each of the SUV’s corners.

New appointments include redesigned cloth and steering wheel, Multi-Information Display with audio indicators, and larger double roof instrument panel. A four-speaker stereo system, air conditioning, and power windows come standard as well.

The 2010 Mazda CX-7’s available engines are powerful and responsive, though not as fuel efficient as others in the class. Regular soft-roaders or towers should consider the all-wheel drive option and 2.3-liter turbo, while urbanites can live happily with the two-wheel drive model with a less powerful 2.5-liter.

Driver and passenger front and side airbags come standard on the CX-7, as do front side curtains. A fold away collapsible brake pedal assembly and side impact beams are included as well.
