2015 Buick LaCrosse
2015 Buick LaCrosse

New for 2015

The Buick LaCrosse adds a Wi-Fi hotspot with 4G LTE, four-way adjustable front-seat headrests, a standard rearview camera system, and three new exterior color options: Deep Garnet Metallic, Dark Chocolate Metallic, and White Frost Tricoat.

Vehicle Overview

The Buick LaCrosse is a midsize sedan that fits above the Regal as the automaker’s biggest sedan.

Summary

The 2015 Buick LaCrosse is powered by a 2.4-liter I-4 that’s paired with an electric motor that makes a total of 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque, which is connected to the front wheels by a six-speed automatic. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 25/36 mpg city/highway. Optionally available is a 304-hp 3.6-liter V-6 that makes 264 lb-ft of torque, also gets paired with a six-speed automatic, and can be equipped with all-wheel drive over the standard front-wheel drive. EPA-estimates for the bigger engine are 18/28 in FWD form, and 17/26 in AWD.
The 2015 LaCrosse comes with a high-quality stitched leather interior, eight-inch infotainment screen, safety-alert seat (it vibrates to warn you of dangers, like blind spot and rear parking assist), head-up display (following distance, and driver assistance alerts are displayed), collision mitigation braking, and adaptive cruise control.
The 2015 Buick LaCrosse received a five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA (out of a total five stars), and in IIHS testing received four ratings of good (the highest possible rating is good).

What We Think

The 2015 Buick LaCrosse is an incredibly quiet, comfortable, American sedan that features all of the technology buyers have come to expect on a luxury car. Handling is good, but as one editor pointed out in our Driven review of a 2014 Buick LaCrosse, “Understeer gets pretty serious when you tackle a turn in a way no Buick buyer, regardless of age, would ever intentionally do.” The no-cost nature of the pair of engines is a novelty, but Buick insists that it should be a matter of preference for their customers, whether they want the power of the V-6 or the efficiency of the eAssist I-4 powertrain. The trouble is the new Chevrolet Impala: “that rather handsome new Chevy Impala that's built off the same architecture pushes GM's value brand into near-premium territory. In fact, if you look past the volume Impala LT to the LTZ model, you'll be hard-pressed to figure out why the Buick version is more premium.”
But the fact is, real wood isn't enough to distinguish a big 2014 Buick LaCrosse premium sedan and a loaded Chevy sedan. For the consumer, the only decisions to make are: which design do you prefer, and which dealers offer better prices?
