2010 bmw m5 Reviews and News

1975 Volvo 245 Wagon Engine Swap
In a perfect world, station wagons and speed would not be mutually exclusive concepts. If the auto market doesn’t offer you a wagon that goes like stink, sometimes you just have to build one yourself. One Volvo owner has done just that by swapping a twin-turbo inline-six from a Toyota Supra into an early-model 240 wagon.
2012 Bmw M5 Wheel
BMW finally gave us an official first look of the 2012 BMW M5 last month. While we got into the nitty-gritty details of the F10 M5, we didn’t get to take in the sights and sounds of BMW’s latest and greatest. Well now we can. Some Spanish automotive journalists got their hands on the new M5 and produced two videos worth of B-Roll; one of the new M5 cruising the Spanish countryside, and another with some close-up looks at the latest M car’s interior.

We’re looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the 2012 BMW M5, but until we get that chance, BMW is sating our appetite with another short video showcasing the new super sedan.
2011 BMW M5 Drifting
It’s easy to see the performance potential of the new M5. But when all you can do is read about the car, you don’t get a clear picture of what it can actually do. BMW has come to the rescue with this short, yet tantalizing clip of the 2012 M5 – showing that it doesn’t just impress on paper. The M5 is first seen casually taking corners on the track. The video then changes pace as the car power slides through a turn, giving us a few brief moments of sideways opposite lock action. The following scene looks sped up, but as the 2012 M5 packs 552 hp from its twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8, such speeds wouldn’t be impossible. As the M5 flies at warp speed through the esses, you can hear a hint of turbocharger whine. The tach is then shown winding up to the car’s 7000-rpm redline, delivering a sweet engine note in the process. After the M5 finishes its lap of spirited driving, the car is then shown cruising around the track, allowing it to strike some glamour poses for the camera. Although the video only teases us with just a half second or so of drifting, it does let us hear more of that twin-turbo V-8 sound. After waiting months for BMW to completely reveal the car, this video only further whets our appetite for the new M5. Source: YouTube Click here for video
2012 Bmw M5 M6 Convertible Spy Shots
As summer approaches and the weather improves, we’re not the only ones who are eager to get outside and drive -- it seems BMW’s employees share our itch, seeing as our friends at Motor Trend recently spied engineers taking the next-generation M5 sedan and M6 convertible out for a sunny drive.

Summary
BMW IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2010 5-SERIES, MODEL YEAR 2004-2010 6-SERIES, MODEL YEAR 2006-2010 M5, AND MODEL YEAR 2007-2010 M6 VEHICLES. THE INSULATED BULKHEAD CONNECTOR FOR THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE MAY HAVE BEEN INCORRECTLY ATTACHED TO THE TRUNK FLOOR PANEL, WHICH CAN LEAD TO A LOOSENING OF THE BOLT CONNECTION. AS IT LOOSENS, AN INCREASE IN ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE AT THIS CABLE CONNECTION IS POSSIBLE AND COULD CAUSE THE CABLE CONNECTION TO OVERHEAT.
Consequences
OVERHEATING COULD LEAD TO A FIRE, EVEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN USE. AS A PRECAUTION, OWNERS ARE ADVISED TO PARK OUTSIDE UNTIL THE REMEDY HAS BEEN MADE.
Remedy
BMW WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND SECURE THE BATTERY BOLT CABLE CONNECTION AS NECESSARY, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 30, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BMW CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND SERVICES AT 1-800-525-7417.

Component
EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TAIL LIGHTS
Summary
BMW is recalling certain model year 2008 through 2010 528i, 535i, 550i, and M5 passenger cars manufactured from March 1, 2007, through December 31, 2009. Over time, increased resistance at the taillight electrical contact points may cause damage to the ground terminal and housing of the connector resulting in an intermittent or permanent loss of functionality of one or more rear lamp functions (tail, brake, turn-signal, reverse).
Consequences
Intermittent light operation reduces the ability to warn other motorists of the driver's intentions, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear lamp bulb carriers free of charge. Owners may contact BMW customer relations at 1-800-525-7417 or email BMW at CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com.
