The Volkswagen Polo GTI debuts in Tokyo, and we'll forgive you if you thought it was a Golf GTI at first glance; other than being smaller in every dimension, it looks nearly identical.
A lowered suspension, red brake calipers, and sixteen-inch wheels that look like the eighteens on the Golf GTI lend purposefulness to the diminutive hatchback. Inside, sport seats and red stitching on the seat belts complete the picture, along with a leather-rimmed three-spoke wheel and aluminum detailing.
Like the Golf GTI, this Polo uses a turbocharged four--here a 1.8-liter that generates 148 hp. VW claims the car can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 8.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 134 mph.
