Mazda MPV

The new Mazda MPV minivan debuts in 2006 as a Japanese domestic model only. In Europe and the United States, Mazda will replace the current MPV with the very stylish CX-7 crossover SUV (hitherto known on the auto show circuit as the MX-Crossport).

Japan's new 192-inch MPV is based on Mazda 6 architecture and comes with an unusually sporty powertrain; the engine is the same direct injection 2.3-liter DISI turbo found in the Mazdaspeed 6. A six-speed automatic and eighteen-inch wheels round out the show car's sporting credentials.

The new MPV cabin can seat up to eight. The seats are bigger than the current MPV's and the second row is especially luxurious. The third row split-folds 60/40 and is power operated.
