Subaru R1e concept
The R1e is an electric minicar concept. Although its dimensions are diminutive (about 11 feet long), the 2+2 seater was not designed around Japan's kei minicar size regulations. Like the B9 Scrambler roadster, the R1e compact uses the new three-grille front end, which chief designer Andreas Zapatinas is developing for Subaru.

The R1e and the B9 Scrambler both use a manganese-lithium ion battery (which Subaru calls a Lamilion battery), which has greater energy storage capability than a nickel-metal hydride battery, and which can be recharged by plugging into a single-phase outlet.
