Just 147 inches long, this two-door city car is a new departure for Peugeot. The neatest feature is the twin sliding doors that are actuated electrically via two giant handles: compared with conventional doors, they offer easier ingress and egress in the tight spots that are a feature of European city dwelling. Packaging, typically, is an important feature of the interior, with individual rear seats that can be folded or moved fore and aft up to 9.1 inches. For buyers who feel inclined, there are twelve 18-piece interior kits that change air vent bezels, seat covers, and door trims to make a semi-custom interior. Sharing its underpinnings with the next generation 207 sub-compact, the 1007 is available with 74-horsepower 1.4-liter and 107-horsepower 1.6-liter gasoline engines or a 67-horsepower diesel. The gas engines are mated to either a semi-automatic transmission or a five-speed manual, but the diesel comes only with the manual. Peugeot also showed its hot version of the 1007 at Paris, dubbed the RC. Finished in black with an Alcantara and leather interior, the RC had a 138 hp engine, a tail spoiler, and eighteen-inch wheels and tires. Cute.
