Lest you think designers at Citroen have finally kicked that whole "quirk" thing they've done for the last fifty years, have a look at this. You're looking not at a screenshot from Columns or a game of Candy Land gone awry, but an interior rendering of the Citroen Hypnos concept, expected to debut at the 2008 Paris motor show.
Although we're used to Citroen's penchant for the unusual, this rendering took us by surprise, given the exterior looks relatively conservative. Sure, some may compare it to a Nissan GT-R mixed with a Mazda CX-9, but it still doesn't suggest the psychedelic maze within. Citroen claims the exterior is "confirmed" by the interior - which, by the way, is intended to make "technology more human and approachable."
Moving away from the looks, we're told the Hypnos uses a hybrid powertrain, powered in part by a 200 hp engine. Details are still sketchy, but we're curious if it shares its technology with Peugeot's RC concept - another hybrid show car scheduled for a Parisian debut.
We'll bring the full details on the hybrid system - and that rainbow interior - when Automobile Magazine covers the 2008 Paris motor show this October.
