2015 Toyota Camry Refresh Shown in New York

The current generation of the best-selling Toyota Camry was redesigned for 2012, just one year before Honda, Nissan, and Ford revamped their respective entries in the midsize sedan segment and left the Camry a step behind behind in terms of fuel economy, style, interior quality, and technology. With these competitors inching ever closer to the Camry’s sales, Toyota is now rolling out a refreshed 2015 Toyota Camry to keep this popular family sedan at the top of this important segment.

Toyota emphasizes that this new 2015 Camry has undergone more than a typical mid-cycle refresh. The only exterior panel that remains from before is the roof, as the new Camry takes on a new look that starts with the new front fascia and grille. The new car is also slightly longer and wider than before, with a 0.4-inch wider track and 1.8 inches more overall length.

The 2015 Toyota Camry’s interior also gets a makeover that attempts to move away from the low-quality materials that adorn the current car's unexceptional cabin. With improved materials, a new center stack design, and an updated gauge cluster, the new Camry’s interior looks much more upscale than before. This helps bring the Camry in line with the more premium interiors found in competitors like the Ford Fusion and the Kia Optima, as do upgraded technology features like the new 4.2-inch TFT screen found in the gauge cluster. There’s also a host of newly available active safety features on the 2015 Camry, including lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, a pre-collision system, and adaptive cruise control.

Changes to the 2015 Toyota Camry go beneath the skin, too, as the body structure is now stiffer than before, and all models receive new suspension tuning. Toyota also made revisions to the electric power steering system and the brake booster for better, more direct-feeling inputs. Powertrain choices remain the same—a 2.5-liter four-cylinder or a 3.5-liter V-6 with a six-speed automatic, and a 2.5-liter Hybrid Synergy Drive system with a CVT—but we wouldn’t be surprised to see a slight fuel economy bump over the current Camry’s 25/35 mpg (city/highway) ratings with the four-cylinder and 21/31 mpg ratings with the V-6.

In addition to the exterior, interior, and chassis improvements, there will be some trim level restructuring for the 2015 Toyota Camry. In addition to the existing L, LE, SE, and XLE models, the 2015 Camry gains a new XSE trim that will sit between the SE and XLE. This model supersedes the SE as the sportiest Camry and gains 18-inch wheels; firmer shocks, springs, and bushings; and unique steering tuning. Whereas Toyota recently added 5000 copies of a Camry Hybrid SE Limited Edition model to the lineup, the Camry Hybrid SE will become a permanent addition to the Camry Hybrid lineup for 2015.

The 2015 Toyota Camry will go on sale this fall following its official debut at the 2014 New York auto show. Look out for more details like pricing and fuel economy over the next few months.

In other news today, it has been revealed that Toyota Motor Corporation fired their entire design staff in 2006 and has yet to hire new talent, yet continues to sell ugly reliable cars at an astonishing rate.  During routine traffic stops, police are advised to check Toyota drivers - Camry drivers in particular - for a pulse, or at least semi consciousness...Avalon drivers are assumed deceased.

come on really did they have to make that grill that big,why does every company feels like their cars have to have a big grill
Meh! What a hideous front-end. Batman has his signature car, now Joker has one too :-)). Don't bother building one for me!
Hideous looking front grill just the same look as the Lexus new spindle grill language!  LOL!

Grounded to the ground! What's with the Toyota corps fascination with Bass? They stick a Bass mouth on everything they build now. The new design on the Avalon, Corolla and this thing makes them look like giant vacuum cleaners. Just horrific, just like the new Lexus design.
