The Maserati brand was established in Italy in 1914, meaning now is the perfect time for the company to celebrate its 100th birthday with Centennial Edition packages for the GranTurismo and GranCabrio MC models.
The new package is based on the regular 2014 Maserati GranTurismo MC coupe and the GranCabrio MC convertible, both of which use a 454-hp, 4.7-liter V-8 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, giving the cars a top speed of 185 mph.
The Centennial Edition cars can be painted in special three-layer coats of Magma Red or Inchiostro Blue. What’s the significance? Those colors are in the Maserati emblem and, apparently, are signature colors of the Italian town of Bologna where Maserati was founded 100 years ago. Buyers can choose any of four wheel designs, and then can pick either smoke gray or charcoal gray for the special center caps that feature Maserati's unique centenary logo.
For red cars, the interior benefits from black leather; red, white, and blue stitching; carbon-fiber trim on the dashboard; and a special doorsill plate with the Maserati centenary logo. The blue cars receive white leather with blue stitching.
The 2014 Maserati GranTurismo MC coupe and the GranCabrio MC convertible go on sale this July. Pricing will be announced closer to that date.
