California is for dreamers, and the car guys at the DaimlerChrysler Pacifica Design Center in Southern California are big dreamers! Imagine this, "Big Daddy Roth meets Formula 1!" We call it the "SUPERBEE," a name from our past with a whole new meaning.
It starts off with a super lightweight and strong composite structure with a Formula 1-type rocker-arm suspension. Next, it has to be clean, efficient and--above all--powerful. We imagine a small 2.0-liter V-8 that revs to 14,000 rpm and burns cleanly on natural gas. OR, how about Hybrid or Fuel Cell power? We want it creative, fun AND responsible.
California Car Culture is diverse. It ranges from Hot Rods to Techno-racers. The SUPERBEE is an eco-friendly sports machine for two that does it all. Efficiently commuting during the week and on the weekend with its open cockpit, it is the ultimate tool to take on the Pacific Coast Highway or Mulholland Drive through the Santa Monica Mountains. The SUPERBEE is a vehicle that truly reflects the California lifestyle.
