2014 Dodge Charger and 2014 Dodge Challenger 100th Anniversary Edition

Dodge will unveil two special edition models to the 2013 Los Angeles auto show to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of John and Horace Dodge building the first Dodge car in 1914. Based on the 2014 Dodge Charger and the 2014 Dodge Challenger, these special 100th Anniversary Edition cars will feature a special exterior paint colors and other exclusive elements to set these limited production models apart.

The 2014 Dodge Charger 100th Anniversary Edition is based on either the Charger's SXT Plus or R/T trim levels; the former comes with the 300-hp, 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, and the latter includes the 370-hp, 5.7-liter Hemi V-8. On the outside, special elements for this edition include an available High Octane Red Pearl Coat color exclusive to the Anniversary Edition, 20-inch aluminum wheels, and special badges on the fenders and wheels. On the inside, the Charger 100th Anniversary Edition gains a Nappa leather interior, a flat-bottom steering wheel, brass-colored accent stitching, and an embroidered anniversary logo on the floor mats and seatbacks.

Commanding $2200 more than the standard 2014 Dodge Charger, the Dodge Charger 100th Anniversary Edition will start at $34,490 for the V-6 model and $35,690 for the V-8 model. As you might expect, the 2014 Dodge Challenger 100th Anniversary Edition is similarly equipped, with the same available paint color, interior trim upgrades, and 100th Anniversary logos and badges throughout. It is likewise based on the SXT Plus and R/T Plus trim levels of the standard Challenger, although the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 in the Challenger is available with a six-speed manual transmission in addition to the five-speed automatic option available on the Charger.

The Dodge Challenger 100th Anniversary Edition will have a $2500 price premium over the standard 2014 Challenger, meaning a starting price of $31,790 for the V-6-powered Challenger and $35,990 for the V-8-powered model, with destination.

The price premiums for these 100th Anniversary Editions strike us as steep for what essentially amounts to an appearance package, but owners will also receive special key fobs with 100th Anniversary logos, a customized owners kit, and a commemorative book celebrating the heritage of the Dodge brand. If you're a hardcore Dodge fan who wants to be a part of history, the Dodge Charger and Challenger 100th Anniversary Editions will go on sale at Dodge dealers nationwide in early 2014.
