After nearly 12 years on the market, it’s time to say goodbye to the first-generation Volkswagen New Beetle. To do so, VW’s building a limited number of Final Edition models for 2010.

Volkswagen plans on building only 3000 of these Final Editions -- 1500 coupes, and 1500 convertibles. While the coupes receive a special Aquarius Blue paint job and a black roof, the convertibles sport a two-tone white-on-blue scheme reminiscent of vintage Beetles.
Final Edition Bugs also receive fog lamps, a numbered steering wheel, special exterior badges, and unique 17-inch wheels. VW claims it’s fitted the cars with a sport-tuned suspension, but power comes from the same 150-hp 2.5-liter I-5 found in any New Beetle built after 2006. A six-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission is standard equipment in all Final Series cars.
Both models are expected to arrive in dealers this spring. Final Edition coupes should sticker around $20,240, while convertibles are expected to start around $27,170.
