2007 Chevrolet Equinox Fuel-Cell

September 18, 2006
Hydrogen is hot; we haven't heard this much about number one on the periodic table since the Hindenburg blew. Shortly after BMW announced plans to market a test fleet of hydrogen-powered 7-series sedans, General Motors followed suit in a big way. In the fall of 2007, the General will release over 100 of these fuel-cell-powered Chevrolet Equinoxes to select customers in California, New York, and Washington, D.C. in a plan dubbed "Project Driveway."
The vehicles will be loaded up with a long list of safety features including side curtain air bags and stability control, and are fully functional, real-world performers engineered to last for 50,000 miles. The car is being shown at the L.A. auto show, and in September, GM also announced that the GM Sequel concept--first shown at the 2005 Detroit auto show--will wear a Chevrolet badge. All of this, and the Camaro will go into production? Times might be getting better at Chevy sooner than some of us think.
