Skoda Vision C Concept to Debut in Geneva

Skoda VisionC Concept

Skoda doesn’t usually make many headlines in the U.S., but this Czech member of the mighty Volkswagen Group is making a name for itself with this striking concept called the Skoda Vision C that will debut next month at the 2014 Geneva auto show.

This important concept is meant to preview a new design language for Skoda as the company “renews and expands” its model range. We see a lot of Audi A7 influence in the bright-green Vision C, and that’s not a bad thing. The strong character line that runs along the profile is especially Audi-like, as is the fastback profile that tapers toward the rear and the prominent grille up front. The Skoda Vision C also features an interesting triangular motif that can be seen on the headlights, the taillights, and the snazzy wheels. It’s likely that the Vision C concept previews a future production Skoda, possibly the next Skoda Superb which is currently the company’s Volkswagen Passat-based flagship sedan.

Skoda says this “five-door coupe” concept is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB modular platform that underpins the new Volkswagen Golf. Low weight and aerodynamics make efficiency a priority despite the Vision C’s larger size, and the concept features a 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that meets Europe’s stringent CO2 emissions regulations that will be in place by 2020.

Stay tuned for more photos and information about the stylish Skoda Vision C concept leading up to its debut at the 2014 Geneva auto show.

Is Skoda structured like an American car company division or is it a true separate company under VW ownership? In other words is it Audi or Buick?
