The smallest car offered by Suzuki in the U.S. is the SX4. In Europe, the Japanese company offers the highly regarded and even smaller Swift. There's talk that the Swift may make it to the USA in the near future.
Suzuki is using the Frankfurt auto show to reveal an even smaller car for the European market that slots in below the Swift - the new Splash. This new four-door hatch goes on sale in early 2008 and is a twin to the Opel Agila - Suzuki developed both of the cars.
The Splash will come to market with more standard equipment than the Agila, including stability control. Engine choices include a 1.0-liter or 1.2-liter gasoline engine and a 1.3-liter diesel power plant. All engines are hitched to a standard five-speed manual, but buyers can specify a four-speed automatic on the larger gas engine. Don't look for this extra small Suzuki in the U.S. any time soon.
